Family Photography Session in Putman County!

Recently, I had a family photography session recently with young children.  The mom had contacted me because she had a baby girl months prior and wanted to update family photographs.  This is one of the biggest reasons why I get contact for sessions.  A family has a new addition and they need new photos!  The new addition is always so special in my mind because now that family has a new member to love, a new member to learn with (if you are mom you know that our children teach us everyday) and someone new to spoil with affection.  

Family Photography Sessions are so important!! Here are my reasons why you need to have one! 

Before our session, we decided the needs of the session, what kinds of photographs she was hoping to get and any details about her family I should know.  I think it’s so important to have this conversation before a family session because  I always want my clients’ expectations to be met.  Pleasing my clients and making sure they are happy with the end result is super important to me.  Open communication is always best.  This time always gives my clients time to ask any questions they have, and also time to learn more about their family.  I’ll ask the ages of the children, any personality traits I need to know about, etc.

Since this family had a toddler I knew that I had to have a few prompts under my sleeve to get those natural smiles.  I have a toddler and I know that telling him to look at my camera will not cut it.  By asking the toddler to partake in an activity, such as running up to mom and giving her a surprise hug, this will elicit a natural smile!! Perfect time to take that photograph.

Besides capturing the new baby girl, I got some photographs of the siblings together and interacting.  It’s always sweet to see how the older sibling reacts to the new baby.  These are new and exciting for everyone.  

As a surprise at the end of the session, I brought out some bubbles!  No child can resist bubbles and I love capturing children in play.  It’s so heartwarming to see them to try to catch the bubbles and just have fun with it!
